Read our full story

Charitable Community began as the Cape Coral Community Foundation, formed to support charitable efforts within a single city. As needs grew beyond one set of boundaries, we became The Community Foundation and extended our support to nonprofits across Southwest Florida.

Along the way we learned something the field rarely acts on: the greatest constraint on nonprofit impact is not capital — it is the recognition, development and connection of the people leading the work. Traditional foundations measure assets under management. We measure influence built.

Today, as Charitable Community, we recognize the region's most influential nonprofit leaders, develop the next generation through the Leadership Institute, publish the ideas shaping the sector, and connect the people transforming our community — on behalf of 5,719 nonprofit organizations, 37,500 mission-driven employees and $4.15B in annual impact.

Our Mission

To recognize, develop, connect and elevate the nonprofit leaders of Southwest Florida — building the charitable influence that transforms our community.

Our Vision

A region where nonprofit leaders are celebrated with the same prestige as its CEOs, scholars and elected officials — and where their influence shapes every decision that matters.
